Electronic Dance Music continues to creep it’s way into hip hop, clearly influencing the production of this track off Bobby Ray‘s upcoming album. And I can’t complain, it’s a pretty dope track. The part that most excited me? Hearing Weezy coming with a fresh flow.
Everybody and their mother is bitching about Tha Carter IV, and you can’t blame them. Wayne has spoiled us over the years, blessing us with epic verse after epic verse, raising the bar for himself to a ridiculous level. So when Tha Carter IV failed to meet expectations, the critics swarmed. But what were you really expecting?
Dwayne Michael Carter had just gotten off of his federally sponsored vacation, as well as both of his favorite purple-colored influencers. Those aforementioned influencers were playing a more and more intrusive role in his creative process as the years went on, so getting back into the roll of things after his release without them means reshaping the way his entire creative process occurs. It’s like a younger Manny Ramirez reaching his peak potential a few seasons back with the help of some roids, but then having to enter offseason away from the game and return at a later date sin roids.
Can Wayne be great again? Of course. He just needed to get back into shape, and he did so working on Tha Carter IV. And now that he’s in shape and ready for battle, expect to start seeing some homers from him over the coming months — I believe this is just the first of many.[audio:http://dankideas.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/09/Strange-Clouds-ft.-Lil-Wayne.mp3|titles=Strange Clouds ft.
